ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support

APL’s ACLS course offers in-depth knowledge of maintaining cardiac life support after a cardiac arrest.  The importance of teamwork after a cardiac arrest is discussed in a classroom setting and practiced hands-on during workshops with our course highlighting the essential need for team dynamics, necessary systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest intervention.  We also provide intensive training in airway management and cardiac care related pharmacology.  Delegates must pass both a written and a skills test to achieve designation and certification.

Pre-Requisite: Current HSFC BLS (C)

PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support

The APL PALS course is designed to empower the healthcare professional to better recognize and treat life threatening emergency care in infants and children.  Infants and children can present unique symptoms and require adjusted care routines when critically ill.  Our scenario-based course is focused on the treatment of a pediatric patient reaching or in cardiac or respiratory distress using a team approach.  We instruct the skills necessary for immediate care from stabilization to the transport phase.  Delegates must pass both a written and a skills test to achieve designation and certification.

Pre-Requisite: Current HSFC BLS (C)

ITLS – International Trauma Life Support

Our ITLS course is an internationally recognized program for pre-hospital trauma and emergency care.  This course instructs students on rapid assessment, identifying immediate threats and appropriate action, empowering the graduate to offer the highest skills and treatment in any first-response situation.  The ITLS course is essential for paramedics, EMTs, military medics, and first-responders.  Our instructors provide classroom-based emergency scenarios for the course participants to practice their skills.

Pre-Requisite: 12 months previous CPR certification proof

EMR – Emergency Medical Responder

So that we can offer the highest quality of training and the best experience for our EMR students, APL offers this course conducted in collaboration with the Northern Lakes College.  Our EMR course id designed for anyone who wants to know more about handling an emergency situation wherever it may occur, providing the knowledge needed to maintain life, reduce mortality, and reduce pain in any emergency or trauma situation.  You do not need to be a medical professional to attend an EMR course as the course includes CPR and AED training at a healthcare level.  This course spans two semesters and is a mixture of classroom and practical applications, concluding with written and practical examinations for successful completion. Northern Lakes College – EMR

EMT – Emergency Medical Technician

So that we can offer the highest quality of training and the best experience for our EMT students, APL offers this course conducted in collaboration with the Northern Lakes College.  Our EMT course provides an excellent standard of education for pre-hospital healthcare professionals, preparing students to work in a multi-disciplinary team in an emergency setting.  Instruction is provided in all aspects of pre-hospital care including advanced life support assistance, assessing the patient, diagnosing needs, necessary treatments and critical interventions.  This course is delivered via mixed media and requires the participant to be motivated and organized as the pace is swift.  A work placement period is an essential part of the course, and neither APL nor Northern Lakes College can guarantee where the placement will be.  Successful completion of the EMT program is required to proceed to an EMT-Paramedic program.
