John D’Or Prairie (Treaty 8)

John D’Or Prairie is within the Little Red River Cree Nation and is 125km east of High Level. It’s small in size but has an active community of longtime residents.

It is home to the Administrative Centre for the Little Red River Cree Nation, the Fifth Meridian Market Store, a school, health centre, privately owned businesses, public works office and the Joseph’s Parish Church.

The landscape around John D’Or Prairie is breathtaking. It is located on the Lawrence River, upstream from the Peace River and south of the Caribou Mountains. The surrounding areas have large, looming forests, and is a prime example of the beauty that nature can hold.
