We had the opportunity to tag along with Linda from our Special Events Team at the Peace River Pow Wow.
This is what Linda had to say about her experience.
“I was fortunate enough to work as a medic at the Pow Wow in Peace River on the 21, 22 & 23 of June. It was a blast as the culture is so different. The dancing and regalia is so amazing. As well I have worked at many other events in the past. You become part of it and are welcomed into whatever it is that you are working at.
The Special events are all quite amazing to work at as every one is different (FC Edmonton, rodeos, Alberta Pond Hockey Championships, Century Mile Racetrack and Casino and any event that communities offer that require a medic). The exciting part of this is that a person can experience the different cultures and different events that we would probably not normally attend. And being the medic at these events we have a front row seat to the activities. The Special Event team is not limited to EMRs. Many require EMT and Paramedic positions.
I have worked with APL for the past 13 yrs as an EMR. When I started with APL the major part of the work was with the Industrial field ie; drilling rigs, service rigs, construction etc, and as there is still some work in this field, APL has expanded greatly with the Special Events. APL is a great company to work for. They have up to date equipment and supplies to work with and a very supportive team. I’m proud to be part of this unique team!”
