Air Ambulance
The Alberta Air Ambulance Program is a province-wide system of direct delivery and contracted air carriers and medical crews.
This program is coordinated provincially through the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Communications Centre with the primary focus to provide expedient air medical transport of critically ill patients to the closest, most appropriate facility that can meet the patient’s medical needs.
Since 2002, APL has been one of the preferred Air Medical Crew contract providers for Alberta. Our medevac base locations include Grande Prairie, Peace River, High Level and Fort Vermillion. The APL Air Ambulance teams consist of experienced critical care specialists including Advanced Care Paramedics and Registered Nurses with medical oversight provided by the Provincial Air Ambulance Medical Director. The Air Medical Crew teams provide high quality critical care and transport within aircraft specially configured and equipped with specialized medical equipment and supplies for patient transport and repatriation missions. APL completes 3000 Air Ambulance patient transports per year.
In addition to transporting patients between small and large medical centers throughout Alberta and Northern British Columbia, APL is called upon to provide additional related services including: Specialty Air Ambulance, Repatriation flights, and Commercial Medical escorts. We are pleased to work in cooperation with CanWest Air to get our patients where they need to be, when they need to be there, in the safest and most comfortable aircraft available.
